US Filing Requirements

Generally, the US business profits of a Canadian resident are exempt from US federal tax, unless the Canadian resident has a fixed base or permanent establishment in the US. However, under US domestic taxation legislation, the Canadian resident is "carrying on business" and has US filing obligations.
