On Thursday, November 19, 2015, Roger Greenberg, Steven Kimmel, and Neil Zaret – three of Ottawa’s successful business leaders – shared their individual and different approaches to succession planning to a crowd of more than 80 at GGFL’s inaugural Business Succession Planning Seminar.
While their approaches were decidedly different, it was interesting to note that each had been unexpectedly thrust into their leadership roles as second generation business owners. Roger Greenberg spoke about Minto and the introduction of a CEO who did not share the Greenberg name; Steven Kimmel discussed taking over Westboro Flooring and Décor and the structures he is putting in place for the future; and Neil Zaret told the story of the timely sale of the original company and his son’s involvement in the family’s new business ventures.
The audience was made up of many of Ottawa’s industry leaders and successful business owners who are beginning to think about a succession plan of their own.
The event, which took place at Lagos Bar & Grill at Dow’s Lake Pavilion, was the first of a series of business seminars for GGFL.
