I grew up on a dairy farm and that’s where I got my first sense of business.
The farm operations were our family’s livelihood so I not only got a sense of business, but also a solid understanding of the challenges of running a small business – and the hard work and dedication necessary to be successful.
The majority of GGFL’s clients are small business owners so that early experience on the farm has given me a valuable understanding – not just of the dollars and cents involved, but of the emotional ups and downs of small business ownership.
Our status as a mid-sized accounting firm allows us to provide our clients the broad range of experience and services of a large firm with the personal touch of a small firm.
We all work as a part of a team and work very closely with clients.
I enjoy the diverse client base we have at GGFL and the opportunity I have to provide a wide variety of services. Developing meaningful relationships our clients provides me with a better understanding of their financial needs, helps them solve their problems, and allows me the opportunity, and privilege, to be their trusted advisor.
My expertise includes personal and corporate income tax; trusts and estates; estate planning and dealing with the complexities of the U.S. tax system.
I am currently the Chair of the Ottawa branch of STEP– the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners – and have volunteered with them for several years.
Outside of work, travel is my passion. I live and love to travel the globe and want to experience as many different places as possible.
I am also an avid sports fan. The Toronto Blue Jays and Ottawa Senators are my main teams so I guess that reveals another part of me: I’m hopelessly optimistic!
