Congratulations to GGFL Managing Partner Deborah Bourchier on being named the 2015 Businesswoman of the Year in the professional category at last night’s Women’s Business Network BYA gala.
Deborah was born and raised in Mattawa, a small town three hours from Ottawa. She started her career at GGFL as a co-op student in 1980 and became the firm’s first female partner in 1994.
In 2008, Deborah was elected managing partner, one of the first female managing partners in Canada, and today one of only a few at Ottawa accounting firms.
Despite some unexpected challenges, Deborah has led GGFL to achieve many successes. Over the last eight years GGFL has grown steadily and is among the top 20 accounting firms in Canada.
Deborah and her partners have created a workplace where 60 per cent of the leadership team are women, including five partners, as of 2016.
Deborah is married and the mother of two grown daughters. An avid cyclist and golfer, she lives the concept “healthy body, healthy mind.”
We are very proud of this accomplishment. It’s a wonderful way to kick off GGFL’s 70th anniversary.
