GGFL is delighted to announce that Adam Aronson has been promoted to the role of Associate Partner.
Adam, Ottawa born and raised, joined GGFL 14 years ago as a staff accountant. He studied management and business at McGill University and after a short spell at a Montreal accounting firm was recruited by GGFL.
“Adam leads by example and is well-respected by staff, peers and clients alike,” said GGFL Managing Partner Josh Engel.
“He’s a logical thinker and a true professional with a great work ethic. He’s devoted to providing excellent proactive client service and understands that each client has circumstances that may be unique.”
Adam’s grandfather Harry Stein was an accountant in Montreal and Adam thinks that might have piqued his interest in the profession.
“I did some courses at school and found I had an aptitude for it,” he said. “I enjoy the puzzle where all the pieces have to fit properly.”
“But over time, I began to realize that accountancy isn’t just about the numbers. It’s about who you work with, and the clients you serve. We are in the people business.”
During his 14 years at GGFL, Adam has gradually moved up the ranks. He’s proud of his promotion to Associate Partner but says he initially had no expectations he would achieve that status.
“I have definitely worked very hard, but a lot of people can say that,” he explained. “At GGFL, though, there was always someone to explain why the work was important and then what was the next step. I just kept learning piece by piece and eventually got here.”
Adam has a mix of clients including many not-for-profit organizations.
“I like that as accountants we can help businesses and organizations in the community whose focus and expertise isn’t accounting or tax planning. Whether it’s a not-for-profit serving a great need or someone with a new business idea, we can help them achieve their goals.”
“I like that they’re passionate about their work and enjoy learning about their organizations.” he said. “Over time, you hope you can become a trusted advisor. Like I said, our job is not just about putting numbers together.”
Adam sees his new role as Associate Partner not as an agent of change but rather an upholder of high standards.
“Over the years, the partners I worked for have taught me a lot and gave me the opportunity to contribute. I want to do the same for others who are growing in the firm. There is still a lot for me to learn at the partner table, so that will be my initial focus.”
