Honouring Leadership and Community: Josh Engel Steps Down as Managing Partner of GGFL

After seven years as Managing Partner, GGFL announces that Josh Engel is stepping down from the role, concluding a chapter defined by steady leadership, growth, and community engagement. As he hands the reins to Chad Saikaley, the firm does so with gratitude for Josh’s impact and confidence in the future.

Three Decades of Commitment to GGFL

Josh’s story with GGFL spans 30 years. He joined the firm in January 1996, obtained his Chartered Professional Accountant designation in 1999, and became a partner in 2010. In 2019, he was appointed Managing Partner, a role he held for the next seven years.

Under his leadership, GGFL continued to strengthen its position as one of Ottawa’s leading accounting and advisory firms. His tenure was marked by a focus on collaboration, developing the next generation of leaders, and maintaining the firm’s reputation for integrity and client service. Colleagues describe Josh as principled, steady, and deeply invested in the long-term success of both the firm and its people.

While stepping down as Managing Partner, Josh remains an integral part of GGFL, continuing to serve clients and contribute to the firm he has helped shape for three decades.

Leadership Beyond the Firm

Josh’s commitment to leadership extends well beyond GGFL. A dedicated supporter of the Jewish Federation of Ottawa, he has been an active volunteer and advocate for the Ottawa Jewish community for many years.

His contributions to JFO include:

These volunteer roles reflect Josh’s belief in strengthening community institutions and ensuring resources are directed to where they can have the greatest impact.

GGFL’s support of the Jewish Federation of Ottawa has also been significant and sustained. In addition to annual campaign contributions, the firm has provided an annual sponsorship since 2018. Josh has consistently been a strong voice within the firm in support of community initiatives, events, and sponsorship opportunities that advance the Federation’s mission.

A Thoughtful Transition

Leadership transitions are defining moments for any organization. Josh has approached this one the same way he approached his time as Managing Partner: with foresight and care. The transition to Chad Saikaley reflects a commitment to stability and ongoing growth.

Chad steps into the role with a strong foundation and the support of a leadership team shaped in part by Josh’s collaborative approach. The firm remains well-positioned to continue serving clients, developing talent, and contributing meaningfully to the Ottawa business and philanthropic communities.

A Lasting Impact

Thirty years of service is a rare milestone. Seven years of firm leadership is an even rarer responsibility. Through both, Josh has demonstrated that professional excellence and community leadership can, and should, go hand in hand.

On behalf of the partners and team at GGFL, and the broader community he has supported, we thank Josh for his dedication and look forward to the continued impact he will undoubtedly make in the years ahead.
